This Week in Third Grade:
READING: This week we will be taking our state reading test on Tuesday and Wednesday. For the remainder of the week, we will be looking at main idea and details in nonfiction texts.
MATH: This week we will finish up Chapter 5: Understanding Division. This unit examined what division means and relate it to repeated subtraction. Students will also learn how using multiplication can help them figure out division problems. Our chapter test will be on Thursday, November 10th.
SCIENCE: In science are learning that all living and non-living things are made of matter.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Now that we have finished our mapping unit, we are moving on to Public Services in our communities. We will talk about public schools, fire fighting, police, health care, child care, and public transportation. This will be a short unit with a quiz sometime next week. We will also be briefly talking about the election process and the duties of the President.
WRITING AND LANGUAGE: In writing, students are finishing up typing their narratives in Google Classroom on their Chromebooks. They will then be sharing them in front of the class. Our next type of writing will be opinion writing.
